Beauty Tips to Look Like Beyonce On A Budget

Let me start by saying I once dyed my hair with Sun In that fried my hair & turned it bright orange and that I went through a shameless blue eye shadow phase. Needless to say I am NO beauty expert. I have just spent a good portion of my life watching YouTube tutorials, listening (sorta) to my mom's advice and spending most of my paychecks at CVS.

Let me also say that true beauty really comes from within but on a day when you're feeling like everything is on point, hair did, nails did, you're pretty unstoppable. Here are just some of my essential beauty tips that I can't help but share with y'all.

  • Don't spend your money on expensive mascara, seriously ladies it's such a waste. My mom turned me onto Loreal Voluminous mascara when I started high school and I haven't stopped wearing it since. I'm a big fan of their carbon black and my sister loves the waterproof.

  • False eyelashes are game changers. God blessed with having stubby eyelashes and that's okay, that's where the falsies come in handy. I go to ULTA and stock up on these babies. They are usually 3 bucks a pair and they can be worn at least twice depending how much mascara you load up and just peeling the glue off gently. The trick that I have learned is doing your eyeshadow, lining your upper lid with a thin line and then curling your eyelashes with no mascara, then apply the lashes. Let them dry and then apply a coat of mascara.

  • While we are on the eyes, I want to point out that a good eyelash curler is essential. I have lived the nightmare of pulling out my eyelashes. My favorite one that my mom, my sister and I all use is the MAC eyelash curler, it lasts about a year and it'll bring the right attention to your eyes. Make sure you heat your curler just a touch before using it with either a lighter or your blow dryer.

  • Scotch tape is the perfect eyeshadow/eyeliner stencil guide. I truly believe that my liquid eyeline can sense my fear when I'm trying to get the perfect cateye. This guide makes it so easy and will peel off any excess eyeshadow fallout.

  • Don't wash your hair everyday, seriously it doesn't need it. Unless you're working out for 5 hours a day, you really should only be washing your hair 2-3 times a week. Dry shampoo and a little hair oil will keep your hair full of life. Have fun with creative hairstyles, I follow Amber Fillerup-Clark who always does the best braids.

  • Proper highlighting and contouring can be MAGIC. You need three things, a concealer that is about two shades lighter than your skin tone, a concealer that is about two shades darker than your skin color and a blending tool (i like the egg). From my experience it's been easier when I apply the light concealer first, I put it under my eyes, cheekbones, around my nose, my chin and my T-zone and then blend it all in. I then take the darker shade to my cheeks doing the fishy face , under my jawline and my hairline. BLEND BLEND BLEND! You don't want your face to look dirty, not cute girlfriend. Then set it all with a good powder, my bestie Jamie just recently turned me onto banana powder and it's been heavenly. You got this!

  • I couldn't live without my eyedrops. I don't about yall but when I'm running on like 5 hours of sleep a night I wake up and my eyes are super red and irritated, NOT CUTE. Before starting my makeup routine I pop in some drops and voila they are back to normal and feel refreshed.

  • Why is it that anytime you need to be looking your absolute best a huge zit appears right on your face? I don't get it, not one bit. I have done my research when it comes to getting rid of zits fast and how to cover them up. When I see the evidence of a mean one coming in I break up an aspirin pill, add some water and turn it into a little paste in my hand. I then apply it straight onto my pimple and let it completely dry. I leave it on for about 20 minutes and it helps alleviate redness and swelling. The trick to covering them up is to rub a bit of your concealer onto an eyeliner brush and directly apply with a thick layer. I then make sure to set it evenly with my powder.

  • Alright anyone who knows me knows how much I LOVE my big hair, the bigger the better. I am a firm believer in teasing and getting that hair sky high. I think the first step is to invest in dry shampoo, hairspray and a good ol' teasing brush. First, it's a lot about prepping your roots with the dry shampoo. This adds automatic texture and creates a good hold for the tease. I start teasing the crown of my head and work down in layers to my ears. I then hairspray that crazy mess and flip it all back down. Then I work with my teasing brush to smooth it all out. Don't be afraid to look like a lion, it's hot I swear!

  • I have used all of the different setting sprays out there and the best one is regular, cheap hairspray. After I finish my face I close my eyes and spray my face with hairspray. It sounds weird but honestly it works and keeps it all looking matte and fresh!

  • I'm really loving this eyebrow ride that everyone is on right now. My mom used to tell me all the time how big and shapely eyebrows were so attractive and that little spermy brows need to GO! I didn't listen to her for a very long time and I regret it looking at old pics. Eyebrows are essentially the frame of your face and need to be treated with the respect they deserve. Don't ignore them or let them get unruly. I try to follow the natural shape and pluck when I see a wild hair here or there. My bestie Jamie (my personal beauty guru) also turned me on to Anastasia products HOLLA! I use the anastasia brow pencil and lightly outline my eyebrows and fill in with a powder.

  • Lipstick is powerful, embrace it. A hot red lip or a fuschia pout is fierce and there is no denying. Anytime I decide to wear a color I make sure to use it as an acessory to my outfit. It is adding and not taking away from anything. It can make your teeth look whiter and draws all attention to your gorgeous smile, NEVER A BAD THING! Make sure you line your lips with a similar color to keep all the color within and not smeared like a clown. I also make sure that my lips are fully exfoliated and I just wet them and then use my toothbrush as an exfoliant. Apply the color and GO GIRL!

Welp there you go, you're on your way to looking flawless. We can't all have a 24/7 glam squad like the Kardashians so I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any great tips to share.
